Guy Ride 2000

"Guy Ride 2000" began at Linda's (Ricky's sister) home in Marietta.  Pat and Tim rode their Harleys from Orlando.  Ricky, Rooster and Brent rode from Nashville and I rode from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  Pat, Tim, Ricky and Rooster arrived Friday night and spent the night at Linda's.  On Saturday morning I arrived at Linda's from an overnight stay at Kennesaw to be greeted by a sleepy group of bikers.  Linda had prepared a feast for breakfast.  After stuffing ourselves, we left Marietta for Blairsville and the north Georgia mountains.

Pat, Ricky and Tim originated this annual  "guys only" ride several years ago.  This year they graciously invited Brent, Rooster, and me to join them in a week of riding Harleys in the mountains.  No schedule, no pre-planned route, no deadline.  Just "Ride, Eat, Sleep, Repeat".

When I named the ride "Guy Ride 2000" I was thinking about the year 2000, but as it turned out I put almost exactly 2000 miles on the Harley during the week ride.  The other guys accumulated more mileage than I did, so it was indeed "Guy Ride 2000".

Our first run was from Marietta to Blairsville via I-575, SR-5 and US-76.

Five days of mountain riding averaging 200 miles a day took us from Marietta, Georgia to Boone, North Carolina and back to Brevard.

Linda, thanks for sharing your home and feeding six hungry bikers!!

Rooster, Pat and Tim are ready to roll after a hearty breakfast at Linda's.

Seasons Inn at Blairsville, Georgia.  Small town.  Small motel.  Very biker friendly.

The courthouse on the square.   The Hole in the Wall Restaurant is to the right.

The Hole in the Wall Restaurant became our favorite place to eat in Blairsville.  A waitress named Vicky became "our" waitress.  Good food and good people.

Our other "favorite" place to eat was Kim's.  Although Kim's is now Nancy's, it will always be Kim's to us.  Great hot dogs and ice cream.

Clouds rolling in over the mountains early Sunday morning in Blairsville.
