Alaska Trip 2002

Seattle

The Seattle Space Needle and Seattle skyline seen from a beautiful residential suburb.

A giant troll lives under the north end of the Aurora Avenue bridge in the Fremont section of Seattle.  To the locals he is known as the Fremont Troll.  A real VW Bug is embedded in his hand. He was the winning concept for a public art project and folks from the neighborhood helped the artist build him.

Gaye poses in front of the Chittenden Locks.

A closer view of the picture of the troll.  Randy!!

Judy and Randy board the tour bus after visiting the Chittenden Locks.  The locks provide boat access into Lake Washington.  A fish ladder and tunnel have been constructed to aid the large migration of Sockeye Salmon through the locks.

The Seattle Skyline with the Space Needle just to the right of the flag.

Judy admires the Skyline from a small park.

Randy strolls back to the bus after capturing the Seattle skyline with his digital camera.

Judy at the Place Pigalle, an almost-hidden bistro overlooking Elliott Bay in Pike Place Market.

"Fresh Restrooms?"  Well not really.  Actually the neon advertisement for "Fresh Fish" and a directional sign for public restrooms blend in at Pike Place Market where fish mongers throw fish through the air with reckless abandon!
